The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) Mysore is a private engineering college which is the oldest I the state of Karnataka. This college came into existence in the year 1946. The people like engineers and professors who have labored to establish this college are many.
Their contribution towards the technical education of the society is equally noble however small or large the contribution is. The college owes all these men. Among the 16 founders 3 engineers Sri S.Ramaswamy, Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao and and Sri T.Rama Rao took the front lead in establishing the college.
The college has completed around 69 years of existence now. The college is first started with diploma course in civil engineering. The progress of this rapid and and later in the year 1956 started with B E in various streams of engineering. The college was recognized by state & union governments as one of the college for development under the second & subsequent 5 year plans. In the year 1959 the institution got the status of the private aided institution under the grant-in-aid code of Government of Karnataka.

National Institute of Engineering (NIE) Mysore is positioned around 28th among the top 100 colleges in the nation which include the IIT’s and the NIT’s also. It is ranked within top 10 in the state of Karnataka.
It is one of the fourteen colleges that is recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources Development-World Bank sponsored Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). This college offers 5 PG diploma courses, 11 master courses and eight B E courses.
Along with this it also has thirteen Centers of Excellence. Thus direct admission via management quota is in demand here. A set of Nri quota seats are also available for outside students. The fee structure is available for all the courses available in the administrative block.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in National Institute of Engineering (NIE) Mysore
General students should have passed either 10+2/2nd PUC or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by Government. The candidate should have minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). English as one of the language of study is compulsory. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Biology or Biotechnology or Chemistry as one of the optional subjects. The aggregate marks of SC, ST candidates of All India and OBC candidates in PCM should not be less than 40%.
