AJ Institute of Medical Sciences popularly known as AJIMS is located at NH 66,Kuntikan,Mangalore,Karnataka 575004. It was established in 2002.
It runs under the aegis of Laxmi memorial Education Trust founded by AJ Shetty. It is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognised by the Medical Council of India. It is a private College. It is situated in a sprawling campus of 30 acres which has richness of various species of plants.
The institute is built on a sloping land set against the coastal backdrop. students get to experience a peaceful and beautiful ambience. Along with medical education, humanitarian values, ethics, empathy and compassion are also taught to the students. The teachers are passionate and highly qualified. The faculty is kind and very helpful. They create a friendly atmosphere for the students. Counselling is provided to the students to help them excel in their profession and make the right decisions.

There are Diploma courses of 2 years which include –
- Diploma in Child Health and Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest diseases.
The students who wish to apply in this college must have completed 17 years of age. They have to successfully pass 12th standard or Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore approved equivalent examination with optional subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Biology and English in languages. The aggregate of the optional subjects should be at least 50 %. Students are selected on the basis of their performance in NEET. Marks obtained in the MBBS degree and NEET are evaluated for confirming post graduate admissions.
To confirm admission in undergraduate programmes, students have to register themselves to the official website and fill in the form by ticking the courses in the online portal. The list of seats allotted to the students is published online based on the vacancies.
There are 2 rounds of selection. After the name of the candidates appears in the list, they are asked to visit the college and complete the admission formalities. Students who don’t get selected in the first round can apply for the second round. After completing the formalities and paying the fees, students start attending lectures. The post graduate admission process is also similar.
