Admission in Computer Science Engineering in M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology
Computer Science Engineering is referred to as CSE. It is a branch of engineering that covers a variety of computer science topics needed to create a computer system.
It is a four-year undergraduate engineering program in which students study computer hardware and software both practically and theoretically. The course includes computation-related subjects such as algorithm analysis, programming languages, program design, software, and computer hardware.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was founded in 1984 in MSRIT with an initial admission of 30 students in the UG programme.
In the year 2000, the department increased its intake to 120. With an enrollment of 18 students, the department launched a PG programme in “Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)” in 1998. There are now two PG programmes offered by the department, with enrollments of 30 and 18, respectively: M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and M.Tech in Computer Network Engineering.
In the Department of Computer science and Engineering (CSE), 19 faculty members have a doctorate degree and nine are pursuing doctoral studies. The faculty has published articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Also, the department offers training in programming languages and computer science concepts, as well as vocational courses.
Faculty members are actively engaged in institutional and interdisciplinary research activities. The university organizes technical seminars, workshops, and hackathons for undergraduate and graduate students on a regular basis. Department members encourage students to participate in extracurricular/sports activities.
There is a very active alumni network and regular meetings are held by the department. The department is accredited by the Nation Board of Accreditation (NBA) for three years. The department has agreements with IT leaders such as NVIDIA, SAP, IBM, and HP.

Eligibility for Admission in CSE in MSRIT
- To pursue an undergraduate engineering degree at MSRIT, a candidate must have passed the 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two-year Pre University in Karnataka), with Physics and Mathematics as required subjects and Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, and Electronics as optional subjects.
- The minimum qualifying exam score for SC/ST, Category-1, and OBC candidates is 40%, whereas the minimum qualifying exam score for General Category applicants is 45%. If the candidate’s marks in Chemistry fall short of the required overall percentage for eligibility (and not for the reason of deciding rank, with respect to engineering/technology courses), the candidate’s marks in Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics will be taken into consideration in their place.
- Entrance Exam: KEA / COMEDK
